daily – 34 (catching up)
On a whim, I shoot myself a blank test message. It should immediately appear, since the office has a local box on most of the hubs on the Eastern seaboard, keeping the various branches as close to real time as currently possible.
After a few seconds of nothing, though, I hit the refresh. Still nothing.
Like that person at the crosswalk or elevator, I tap the refresh several more times in rapid succession. It never works there, and it doesn’t here, but I’m getting a little manic. None of this is making sense, and it’s making me nervous.
With a wordless grunt, I jab the refresh once more. The doorbell chimes immediately, and I literally jump in my seat.
