Long day. Hope everyone voted.
Lillian made sure we didn’t miss our chance to be first in line at the voting center this morning, but hearing what people are doing in NY and NJ to get to their polls, defying the enormous difficulties Sandy saddled them with, makes me feel very proud to be American and very humbled at the ease of my life. Regardless of who they chose, these folks felt it important enough to cast their vote when it would have been far easier and perfectly understandable for them to focus on getting through another ravaged day. It’s hard to overestimate the power of that act or the motivation behind it.
Hardly seems worth mentioning that I got my five minutes in tonight.
