Only about 20 minutes today, but that’s 20 minutes more than nothing, and the going is actually faster, now that the tangle is behind me.
Something else I noticed yesterday during my particularly productive bike ride: I love the revising process*, but it can often be harder than the first draft because now I know what’s going to happen and it’s harder to figure out what the reader will and won’t know at various points. This is particularly an issue in a story like this one, for reasons I’m not quite ready to divulge.**
* This is where I say ‘there’s nothing like a perfectly legal way to appear more clever than I am’, except, the more I think about it, the more that’s a double-edged sword, e.g., all those typos and other mistakes that made it into the final drafts of NGD and HHNF, despite all the revisions!
** Because they’re embarrassing.
